Synthetic Cannabinoids often
referred to as synthetic or fake Marijuana consists of various man-made
chemicals that people use as an alternative to smoking pot. These synthetic
cannabinoids bind to the same receptors as CBD and THC and bear such names as
“Spice” “K2” “Herbal Incense” or “Black Mamba.”

More often than not these man-made chemicals are sprayed on plants in order that this fake marijuana can be smoked although some can be taken in liquid form. People who use synthetic Cannabinoids often do so in order to avoid the legal consequences that can arise from illegal marijuana use while enjoying the “high” that Marijuana provides. However, while synthetic cannabinoids may target the same receptors as Marijuana does, but the effects of synthetic pot can be far different than what one experiences when smoking marijuana.

Negative Effects of
Synthetic Cannabinoids

While most people experience only mild if any effects from smoking Marijuana the effects of using synthetic cannabinoids can be quite severe. Some of these effects include:

Dizziness

Rapid heart rate

Vomiting

Agitation

Confusion

Hallucinations

Seizures

Bruising

Severe bleeding

Kidney failure

Heart Attack

Death

There have actually been a good number of deaths that occurred due to the use of Synthetic Cannabinoids.

The Development of
Synthetic Cannabinoids

Not too long ago the use of
marijuana or cannabis was illegal to use to treat medical conditions, so
pharmaceutical companies came up with synthetic Cannabinoids as a way to treat
certain conditions.

One of the earliest
synthetic Cannabinoids was called Marinol and was used in the treatment of
vomiting and nausea. It wasn’t until the early 2000’s that synthetic
Cannabinoids began to become popular as a recreational drug. Unfortunately, it
was with this recreational use of fake Marijuana that the negative effects
really became known to be toxic and dangerous.

The number of deaths from
Cannabinoids tripled between 2014 and 2015 and in 2018 these synthetic
Cannabinoids were laced with rat poisoning resulting in severe bleeding and
death.

Ingredients of Synthetic
Cannabinoids

There appears to be little
regulation of synthetic cannabis Many of these products list a number of
different plants as part of their ingredients although in many cases there are
such small amounts of any one plant that the actual plant ingredients are
undetectable.

Other ingredients that synthetic Cannabinoids may include consist of fatty acids, psychoactive herbs such as Indian Warrior or Wild Dagga, aporphine, and leonurine as well as a number of other chemicals and chemical compounds some of which combined can have devastating effects on the body.

With the legalization of Marijuana for recreational use in several states, it can be hoped that the use and misuse of these Synthetic Cannabinoids will decline, but there is no evidence as yet that this is the case.

However, there is no
evidence that there have been any statistics compiled to see if the
legalization of Pot in specific states has reduced the use of fake marijuana.

The post What Are Synthetic Cannabinoids? first appeared on KD Consulting Interventions.

The Dangers Of Flakka And Flakka Addiction

It seems that every year new designer drugs hit the underground market, resulting in addiction and the loss of life. One of the newest drugs to be hitting the news is a drug known as Alpha-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone (Alpha-PDP) and going by the street name of Flakka or gravel. The drug itself has actually been around for some time but recently has become a popular recreational drug in Florida and other southern states. While little is known about this drug, what is known suggests that this can be one of one of the addictive and destructive drugs yet to make itself known.

Availability

One of the reasons why Flakka is increasing in popularity especially in poorer economic communities is its widespread availability. Alpha-PDP has not yet been banned making this drug legal to purchase. The majority of this drug comes from China and be purchased from gas stations and over the Internet for as little as $5.00. Those buying it can take Flakka through a variety of methods including vaporizing through e-cigarettes and other sources, snorting, smoking, and even eating it. A high from a very small dose can last 1 to several hours.

What Flakka Looks Like

Flakka is a grainy crystalline powder that looks a bit like aquarium gravel (thus the nickname gravel). It is normally slightly grayish in color and some claim it has a foul odor, but when vaporized the high hits the system incredibly fast. Other methods of taking the drug are somewhat slower, but the high is no less potent.

What A Flakka High is Like

People on a Flakka high feel stronger and faster and a person on the drug does appear to exhibit unusual strength as it has been reported that it took up five officers to subdue one average size man high on the drug. The drug also causes hallucinations and several cases have been reported of people on Flakka being excessively violent.

In many people, Flakka tends to raise the body temperature alarming high with temperatures of 105 degrees Fahrenheit being reported. There have also been several incidents in Florida where people high on Flakka rip off their clothes (which may be due to their rising body temperature and an unconscious attempt to cool off.)

There also appears to be an increase among those high on Flakka to be violent towards others as well as higher incidents of suicides and a number of heart attacks after taking the drug. People taking Flakka can suffer from permanent neurological effects and kidney damage and failure.

Flakka Addiction

Although there have been many studies done on Flakka Addiction yet, one telling study done with laboratory rats strongly indicates that Flakka is more addicting than Meth and is far more dangerous to the person taking it and society at large.

Flakka Overdose

The scientist has determined that it is difficult to control the exact dose of Flakka a person takes in and therefore overdoses of this drug can be extremely commonplace and that without immediate treatment this drug can easily lead to death and serious permanent conditions such as having to live with dialysis for the rest of your life.

What’s Being Done to Protect the Public and Users

Right now the first step in protecting users of Flakka and the Public from this drug is to ban this substance and to educate people quickly on the dire effects of this drug. While these steps won’t prevent the use of Flakka it will slow down its availability which will help prevent some people from trying the drug in the first place.

The next step once the substance is banned is targeted those selling this drug before it has a chance to spread any further than the states that are now in.

Treating those already addicted to this drug may prove to be someone more difficult due to the long-term physical and neurological damage that using this drug even for short period may cause.

The post The Dangers of Flakka and Flakka Addiction first appeared on KD Consulting Interventions.

West Palm Beach Drug and Alcohol Interventions

Each year in Palm Beach County there is an estimation of close to 200 unintended drug overdose deaths. This includes a variety of illicit drugs such as Heroin and Cocaine, prescription drugs (Methadone, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Alprazolam). Many of the deaths that have been reported had more than one substance in their body at the time of death. It is important for families to research interventions in West Palm Beach before it is too late. Many overdoses are accidental, rarely intentional, but if there alone on that final last lethal dose, can be the last breath they will ever take.

West Palm Beach Interventions are preventative solutions for loved ones of an addict. Many of those addicted to drugs or alcohol refuses to seek treatment, and they are in need of an intervention to help them realize that they need help. Many Families have tried to speak to their loved one about getting help, but the abuser has another excuse and reason why they continue to abuse. Having a professional interventionist can help you convey your message in convincing the addict to seek treatment immediately. The interventionist will guide the family step by step in making sure your loved one admits into a facility today.

It is important to take action, if you loved ones was sick with cancer or any other disease, you would seek the best medical treatment necessary to help them. It is no different when they suffer from the disease of addiction. The disease does not allow them the ability to seek help, it wants to keep them abusing substances until it kills them and moves onto the next. There is a better way rather than waiting for that call that your loved one was found overdosed.

West Palm Beach, Florida Alcohol Interventions

In West Palm Beach, started a program called Mobile Eyes in December 2013, the program allows the community to report drunk drivers and receive a reward of $100. To qualify for the program, the person who witnesses an impaired driver must contact 911 and ask for Mobile Eyes call. Then the officer must make an arrest validating the individual is a DUI offender. The money that is given comes from police agencies and corporate donations. The police and the community are intervening in methods to prevent drinking and driving. Alcohol interventions in West Palm Beach are extremely important for families to intervene before their loved ones are faced with DUI arrest. With a DUI arrest, the cost can be enormous, through court fees, probation fees, attorney fees, and any other legal fees associated. It is cheaper to have an intervention in West Palm Beach than it is to face these charges.
